I have to admit, We were REALLY lucky in choosing our little house nestled in the hills of French Wine Country of Noyers Sur Serein. Blindly choosing a wedding venue, even in such a setting as Bourgogne (or Burgundy), is not often the way a bride wants to plan her big day. But upon arrival to the small town along the River Serein, I realized just how lucky we were to have picked the Domaine De Venoise off of a vacation home rental website some months before.
Known as the ‘American Wedding’, we were greeted effusively as we entered the town. Reservations were quickly offered to some of the small restaurants, and we spent the week exploring every corner of the town, hiking, and taking our kayak out. If I had ever felt at home in a place that wasn’t my home, it was in Noyers. Each and every person, each and every dish served, each and every street lined with cobble stones, and pastel painted doors. I was in love, and I was home, and I felt like the luckiest girl in the whole wide world.
I’ve already planned my next trip here in the middle of Bourgogne. To explore the alleyways, and take the hike that over looks the city that I didn’t get to go on while I was there organizing and celebrating my wedding. I’m so excited to eat and drink in this place I call a home away from home.
