Brown Butter Donuts with Pomegranate Glaze

My mom is seriously obsessed with donuts. So I ordered a new pan from Country Home Goods, and got to work on new fun recipes for her to try! Here was one of the winners, a Brown Butter Donut with Pomegranates.

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 cup almond milk

3/4 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/3 cup brown sugar

3 tablespoons unsalted butter

1 large egg

1 teaspoon pure almond extract

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a medium sized bowl mix all dry ingredients. Set aside to prepare the wet ingredients. In a small bowl, whisk together egg, milk, and extract. Set aside and make the butter brown.

To brown the butter, add it to a sauce pan, and melt over medium heat. Once melted, continue to cook over a low heat until it crackles and then browns. This will happen pretty quickly, so keep a close watch on it. When it’s finished, whisk in the butter mixture. When fully combined, add the wet and dry ingredients together. Mix well. Use a piping bag to fill the donut pan with dough, making sure not to over fill as they will rise. Bake for 10 minutes, or until golden brown and set aside to let cool.
