Morelia, the capital of the central state of Michoacán, is by far one of my favorite cities in the world. Known for its classic colonial feel, the beautiful pink limestone buildings have been preserved since the 17th century. Gabriel grew up in Morelia, and when we visit his father and family, it stays our home base.
Although more modern architecture is being built in Morelia, there is still so much culture in this small city just west of Mexico City. Children play in the streets while their mothers sell nuts and crickets, yes crickets, from big baskets tide to their back. Others, including visitors, sit at a outside tables around the city’s square drinking a hibiscus cocktail or slowly sipping mezcal with a slice of orange and some ash salt.
Oh, and by the way, did you see my visit last year? I separated them between Day and Night!
